A bridge between industry and academy: Pangea Geotecnia and the University of Concepcion (UdeC) launch a postgraduate scholarship.

In a joint effort to promote the development of advanced human capital and foster applied research, Pangea Geotecnia and the University of Concepción (UdeC) have established an alliance that is already making a difference.

Through a recently formalized agreement, a graduate student funding scholarship has been created, aimed at supporting the academic development of future professionals and responding to the real needs of the industry.

"Academic research often fails to directly respond to the needs of the productive sector. This alliance allows for funding of the talent that the industry needs while promoting useful and contextualized research," highlighted Ronald Herrera García, head of Postgraduate Studies at the UdeC Faculty of Engineering, in a recent publication where he shared his experience.

The scholarship, which has already awarded its first grant of 6 million pesos, has a total funding commitment of 12 million pesos from Pangea Geotecnia. This support covers tuition fees and provides stipends to students selected based on merit and motivation through a transparent process.

Rafael Martínez Ascencio, general manager of Pangea Geotecnia and a UdeC alumnus, emphasized: "This agreement reflects our commitment to education and talent development. We want to actively contribute to training highly qualified professionals who will contribute to the growth and progress of Chile."

The initiative is already recognized as a virtuous model of collaboration between academia and industry, and it is hoped that it will serve as inspiration for other faculties and companies to replicate this formula, creating new opportunities and innovative solutions.
